The Council of Europe's Secretariat has a permanent staff of about 2100 drawn from the 47member States, working in fields such as human rights, democracy, rule of law, media, legal cooperation,social and economic questions, health, education, culture and heritage, sport, youth,local and regional government, environment, administration, finance, IT, public information,translation and interpreting, etc. All permanent staff are recruited by competitive examination only. Fixed-term positions are alsoregularly advertised and filled by a similar procedure. It is possible to undergo a traineeship with the Council of Europe, lasting from eight weeks to fivemonths. Two official traineeship sessions are held each year.

The aims of the official in-service training with the Commission of the European Union are to provide young university graduates with a unique, first-hand experience of the workings of the European Commission in particular, and of the EU institutions in general. The training also aims to provide an understanding of the objectives and goals of the EU integration processes and policies; to give trainees an opportunity to acquire practical experience and knowledge of the dayto-day work of the Commission Departments and Services. They will have an opportunity to work in a multicultural, multilingual and multiethnic environment, contributing to the development of mutual understanding, trust and tolerance. European integration will be promoted within the spirit of new governance and through active participation - creating an awareness of true European citizenship; to give young university graduates the opportunity to put into practice knowledge acquired during their studies, particularly in their specific areas of competence. To introduce these graduates to the professional world and its constraints, duties and opportunities.

Since the establishment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in 1952, its mission hasbeen to ensure that "the law is observed" "in the interpretation and application" of the Treaties.As part of that mission, the Court of Justice of the European Union: reviews the legality of the actsof the institutions of the European Union, ensures that the Member States comply withobligations under the Treaties, and interprets European Union law at the request of the nationalcourts and tribunals.The Court thus constitutes the judicial authority of the European Union and, in cooperation withthe courts and tribunals of the Member States, it ensures the uniform application andinterpretation of European Union law.The Court of Justice of the European Union, which has its seat in Luxembourg, consists of threecourts: the Court of Justice, the General Court (created in 1988) and the Civil Service Tribunal(created in 2004). Since their establishment, approximately 15 000 judgments have been deliveredby the three courts.Every year, the Court of Justice of the European Union offers a limited number of paid traineeshipsof a maximum duration of five months. Traineeships are generally undertaken in the Research andDocumentation Directorate, the Press and Information Service, the Directorate-General for Translation or the Interpretation Directorate.

The European Court of Auditors is the EU Institution established by the Treaty to carry out theaudit of EU finances. As the EU's external auditor it contributes to improving EU financialmanagement and acts as the independent guardian of the financial interests of the citizens of theUnion. The Court renders audit services through which it assesses the collection and spending of EUfunds. It examines whether financial operations have been properly recorded and disclosed,legally and regularly executed and managed so as to ensure economy, efficiency and effectiveness.The Court communicates the results of its audits in clear, relevant and objective reports. It alsoprovides its opinion on financial management issues. The Court promotes accountability and transparency and assists the European Parliament andCouncil in overseeing the implementation of the EU budget, particularly during the dischargeprocedure. The Court is committed to being an efficient organisation at the forefront ofdevelopments in public audit and administration.The Court of Auditors organises traineeship periods throughout the year in areas of interest to itswork. The training periods are granted for a maximum period of five months. The training periodsmay be remunerated (1120 €/month) or non-remunerated.In view of the restricted budgetary appropriations available, however, the number of trainingperiods granted is very limited.

BANCA CENTRALE EUROPEA

The ECB offers traineeship opportunities for students with at least a bachelor’s degree, including PhD students, or for recent graduates in areas such as economics, finance, statistics, business administration, law, human resources and translation. These traineeships give students and job entrants an opportunity to put their learning into practice, gain an insight into the ECB’s activities and operations, and to contribute to the ECB’s mission. The tasks performed by trainees are supervised and depend on the unit they join. It can consist of research tasks, the preparation of draft reports, the compilation of statistical data, the execution of operational tasks and the participation in ad hoc studies.

COMITATO ECONOMICO E SOCIALE EUROPEO

Committed to European integration, the EESC contributes to strengthening the democraticlegitimacy and effectiveness of the European Union by enabling civil society organisations fromthe Member States to express their views at European level. Twice a year the European Economic and Social Committee offers traineeships for a period of five months to university graduates who are nationals of the Member States of the European Union, as well as to a number of university graduates from non-EU countries (long-term traineeship). In addition, the EESC can offer short, unpaid traineeships from one to three months to university graduates or university students who are required to complete their degree by undertaking a period of in-service training (short-term traineeship).

COMMISSIONE DELLE NAZIONI UNITE PER IL DIRITTO COMMERCIALE INTERNAZIONALE (UNCITRAL)

VIENNA

The International Trade Law Division of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs (ITLD), which serves as the substantive secretariat of UNCITRAL, offers an internship programme for a selected number of applicants who hold a first university degree (or equivalent) and are enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (working towards a second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship, with their major field of study being as a general rule commercial law, international trade law or private international law. The Division includes a Legislative Branch and a Technical Assistance and Coordination Section. Those are tasked, respectively, with the development of harmonized legislative texts, and the provision of technical assistance with respect to the adoption and use of UNCITRAL legal texts and coordination among organizations working in the field of international trade law.

You will begiven the opportunity to support and learn from our people and be part of a team. You will beaccompanying outstanding and inspiring career professionals and senior management within theOrganization. Moreover, you will be exposed to high-profile conferences, participate in meetings,and contribute to analytical work as well as support to work on our fundamental principles,exciting programmes and groundbreaking strategies. Initially you will take on the amount ofresponsibility you can shoulder; the potential for growth, however, is yours to develop.Every year a limited number of places for internships are available. The length of an internship isusually between three up to a maximum of six months. Internships start on the 1st or 15th of eachmonth (or the day after if it happens to be a non-working day). Where an intern is not supportedby an institution (university, government or other institution), a stipend to cover basic subsistencecosts will be paid by the ILO.

CONFERENZA DELLE NAZIONI UNITE PER IL COMMERCIO E LO SVILUPPO (UNCTAD)

GINEVRA

The UNCTAD Headquarters Internship Programme is offered to students enrolled in graduate school, with a view to promoting a better understanding of trade and development issues and giving them insight into how UNCTAD attempts to find solutions to these problems. The programme can take place any time during the year for a minimum of two months and for a maximum of six. As UNCTAD has no provision in its budget to pay interns, all costs connected with internships must be borne by the students concerned or by their sponsoring institutions or Governments.

 Erasmus Student Placement è il progetto di mobilità internazionale per tirocini che permette agli studenti di accedere a tirocini presso imprese, centri di formazione e di ricerca presenti in uno dei Paesi partecipanti al programma. Il programma prevede l'erogazione di un contributo finanziario per coprire parte delle spese sostenute dagli studenti durante il periodo di tirocinio. Gli studenti interessati a partecipare al programma Erasmus Student Placement devono presentare la propria candidatura tramite l'apposito bando annuale

Il "Programma di tirocini del Ministero degli Affari Esteri" costituisce una collaborazione fra il Ministero degli Affari Esteri (attraverso l'Istituto Diplomatico) e le Università italiane, col supporto della Fondazione CRUI per le Università Italiane in qualità di gestore organizzativo. Il programma offre a laureandi e neo-laureandi la possibilità di effettuare un periodo di formazione presso il Ministero, le sue rappresentanze diplomatiche, gli uffici consolari, le rappresentanze permanenti presso le organizzazioni internazionali e gli Istituti di Cultura.
