With economic globalization proceeding at a fast pace, political, economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation are burgeoning between China and the European Union. Educating European students to become professionals well-versed in Chinese culture and language is indispensable for the profitable development of mutual relations.

The course aims at teaching advanced Chinese language and culture, while at the same time offering the opportunity to grasp some key elements of Chinese history, society, traditional philosophic ideas and insights on the development of contemporary China.

Students will also be exposed to typical language functions and expressions, as well as to technical terms belonging to the realms of business and politics, allowing for the development of an autonomous capacity to carry out research on Chinese economics and politics, and enter the job market.

随着经济全球化进程的加快，中欧政治，经济和文化交流与合作也日益蓬勃发展，培养欧洲学生成为精通汉语和了解中国文化的专业人才必将促进双边关系的有效发展，推动中欧科技，商贸和人文等方面的共同进步。

高级班课程旨在教授学生汉语言及中国文化，学生们在提高汉语水平的同时将进一步了解中国历史，传统哲学观点及现代中国经济与社会的发展。

学生们将学习高级汉语语言结构，表达方式（词法构成）以及政治和经济学术语。通过语法学习，阅读技能训练及演讲和写作练习，学生们在中国政治，经济等方面的研究能力将得到培养和提高，同时也为将来进入就业市场做好准备。

Advanced students will be proficient in Chinese grammar and conversation; they will be comfortable in practically applying Chinese language functions at CEF level C2. Students will be capable of easily understanding a variety of Chinese-language materials about politics, cultural and social development, and use oral or written Chinese to express their views fluently,  with the aim to accurately understand relevant information and conduct objective analysis.

At the end of the course  students will be able to read and comprehend a wide range of demanding  written and spoken texts on both concrete and abstract topics in the target language, including articles and reports focussing on contemporary issues. 

They will make clear presentations on a range of concrete and abstract subjects and will be able to work creatively and flexibly with others as part of a team.

高级班学生将精通汉语语法及表达方式，具有较强的应用汉语的能力，《欧洲语言共同参考框架（CEF）》C2 级。学生可以轻 松地理解听到或读到的汉语信息，以口头或书面的形式用汉语流利地表达自己的 见解。快速阅读有关中国政治，经济，文化及社会发展的原文资料，准确理解相关信息并进行客观分析。

课程最终要求学生们全面提高阅读理解能力，写作能力和听力理解水平（具体内容与摘要），内容包括与时事相关的文章和报道。

学生们将进行汉语演讲，内容包括具体介绍和摘要，要求表述清晰，准确，自然流畅，并具有创意性和灵活性的团队精神。

Lectures will be based on PPT presentations and in-class exercises. Students will have opportunity to watch short Chinese movies as well, followed by guided discussion in class.

Students will be required to read some texts (over 2500 words) on culture, business or politics in a given time and express their own ideas , while answering questions on the texts. Students are also expected to give a short presentation (around 15 minutes) and write an essay (1000 words) on Italian or Chinese culture, economics or politics within a given time.

 The exam is thus made of four parts:

   1) a reading  test requiring robust knowledge of words, phrases and sentence construction;

   2) reading of 4 texts (approx. 2500-3000 words) and a related Q&A session (1 hour)

   3) a 15-20' oral presentation followed by a Q&A session

   4) a writing session requiring to produce an essay on a topic of personal interest, ideally connected with the development of relationships between China and Italy or the EU (minimum 1000 words). The essay has to be handed in before the student takes the  Reading part of exam (points 1-2).

Students must pass the written part of the examination before being eligible for the oral part of the examination and they must finish all parts of exam to get the final mark.

Before taking the final exam students are required to do 3 presentations on Chinese culture, economics and politics and 3 essays of narrative, expository and argumentative nature.

Part time students will sit a dedicated exam and are requested to contact the teacher at the beginning of the semester.

学生需要在规定时间阅读有关中国文化，政治和经济的文章（总字数超过2500字）并就其内容回答相关问题，表达自己的观点。每个学生将进行一个时间为15分钟的汉语演讲，内容为中国或意大利的政治（改革和外交关系），经济（改革与发展）和文化，三个话题任选其中一个。在规定时间完成一篇议论文（1000字以上），内容为中意文化教育之比较，中意/中欧国际关系的发展。

考试包括四个部分

1，        阅读技能的测试，包括词，短语和句子结构分析,时间大约30分钟。

2，        阅读4篇文章（大约2500-3000字），并就内容回答问题，时间大约1小时。

3，        15-20分钟的口语表达（演讲）并回答相关问题。

4，        写作：自选题目，文章至少1000字，内容关于中意教育文化之比较，中意/中欧国际关系的发展。（阅读考试前，独立完成）

学生必须先通过笔试部分，然后进行口试部分。最终成绩应包括全部考试内容

参加考试以前，学生们要求至少完成三次汉语演讲和三篇文章（记叙文，说明文和议论文）的写作作业。

业余学习的学生要进行单独考试，考试的具体要求请在学期开始时与老师联系。

Support activities include the TOChina Conversation Club on Facebook, to get better acquainted with how China really is (activities in Chinese + English/Italian), as well as the Chinese-Italian Language Corner on weekends for language practice and cultural exchange with Chinese students.

This Advanced Chinese course will develop all four core language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - while helping students gain an advanced competence on grammatical structures. In particular, students taking part in the course will be offered:

  - advanced pronunciation training and introduction to reading methods

   - advanced reading comprehension and training in practical writing

   - analysist of essay writing techniques

   - introduction to technical Chinese terms and expressions

   - reading exercises on culture, business and politics of contemporary China

   - training on doing presentations on Chinese culture, economics, politics and relations between China and other countries

   - exploration of Chinese cultural and social aspects such as education, health care, pension, real estate, stock market, rural reform, social media, state-owned enterprise reform the labour market

   - further training on reading of Chinese press with the discussion of specific topics.

通过阅读了解中国文化和社会发展，如教育，医疗，养老，房地产，股市，农村改革，社交媒体，国有企业改革及劳动力市场等。

中文报刊阅读及相关问题和事件的讨论。
