Obiettivi formativi
L’obiettivo del laboratorio è quello di fornire gli strumenti metodologici e critici utili in primo luogo alla preparazione di una tesi di laurea magistrale, ma anche, più in generale, alla stesura di testi di lavoro, scientifici e giornalistici nelle aree professionali previste per gli studenti. Per questo, il laboratorio è strutturato per permettere agli studenti di applicare positivamente i metodi di studio e di analisi appresi nel master, di confontarsi con le regole dell’argomentazione scientifica, di esporre e difendere le proprie tesi e di adottare uno stile di scrittura che sappia rispondere a esigenze di affidabilità ma anche di efficacia comunicativa. L’indicazione e le esercitazioni con banche dati open-source amplieranno inoltre la capacità degli studenti di accedere a fonti e studi utili anche nel prosieguo della loro attività professionale.
Per queste ragioni, il laboratorio ha carattere seminariale e richiede la partecipazione attiva degli studenti
The goal of the workshop is to provide students with methodological and critical tools that will be helpful primarily in the composition of their master dissertation, but also, more generally, in drafting working papers and scientific and journalistic texts in the professional areas envisaged by the cds. On this ground, the workshop is intended to allow students to apply the methods of study and analysis learned during the master, to deal with the rules of scientific argumentation, to expound and defend their own theses, and to adopt a writing style crossing reliability and communicational effectiveness. The description of open-source databases, and the exercises held with them will widen the students’ abillity in entering sources and studies that can be eventually useful for future professional purposes.
On these grounds, students will be requested to take part actively in the workshop

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi
Lo studente sarà in grado di elaborare un progetto di tesi magistrale (ipotesi di lavoro, metodi, fonti, bibliografia) nonché, più generalmente, di acquisire le competenze minime necessarie all'elaborazione di testi scientifici.
Students will be able to draft a project of master degree dissertation (working hypotheses, methods, sources, bibliography) as well as to learn the basic competences in writing scientifical texts.

Le lezioni saranno svolte con l’ausilio di una dispensa, scaricabile dagli studenti dalla pagina web dell’insegnamento. Durante le lezioni, inoltre, saranno svolte esercitazioni sui diversi argomenti previsti dal corso.
Lectures will be integrated by a working paper available to students in the course webpage, and exercises will be held troughout them

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
La valutazione si basa sulla partecipazione attiva al laboratorio e l’elaborazione di un breve testo da concordare durante il corso.
Students will be evaluated according to their active participation in the workshop and their drafting of a short sample dissertation to be agreed upon during the lectures.

Il laboratorio è pensato per presentare allo studente del cds magistrale in Scienze del governo – e più in generale di un cds magistrale in scienze sociali e umane – l’intero percorso di stesura della tesi di laurea, dalla scelta del soggetto alla discussione finale. Nello specifico, saranno esaminate le seguenti questioni:
- la tesi di laurea fra creatività e metodo scientifico
- l’obiettivo della tesi di laurea magistrale
- la scelta dell’argomento
- tecniche di studio e schedatura
- la ricerca: la fase preliminare e la fase approfondita
- fonti e bibliografia: repertori cartacei e digitali
- valutazione delle fonti
- la scrittura scientifica: norme e modelli
- la struttura della tesi: l’indice; la suddivisione in capitoli e paragrafi; l’introduzione e le conclusioni
- il sistema delle citazioni e delle note
- la stesura: esposizione, retorica, stile
The workshop is intended to introduce the students of the master in Scienze del governo – and, more generally, of masters in social and human sciences – to the entire process of writing a scientific dissertation, from the choice of the subject to the final discussion. More specifically, the following topics will be dealt with:
- a master dissertation: creativity and scientific method
- the goal of a dissertation
- choosing the subject
- studying and recording texts
- the research: preliminary and deep phases
- sources and bibliography: printed and digital collections
- assessing the sources
- rules and models of academic style
- the dissertation structure: index, chapters and paragraphs, preface and conclusions
- the citation and reference system
- the drafting of the text: description, rhetorics, style
