The course aims at exploring in a critical way the relation of innovation to environment, growth and development.

Students will be able to master the main trajectories of the debate on innovation, green economy and development. They will be able to apply the theory to case studies in different domains of the economy.

Programma

The course is divided in four main modules. The first module introduces economic growth and development, how to measure and model them. The second module illustrates the link between natural resources and growth with particular attention on the impact of environmental sustainability. The third part focuses on the impact of innovation on growth, development and environment. We will discuss green innovation in a few industries. Finally, the last block discusses the role of technology and green policy to steer a country within a sustainable path of growth.

-Student will work in groups of two/three to prepare a mid-term presentation. 

-Written exam

 

Percentage of final mark:

Class presentation (50%)

Written exam (50% - multiple answer questions and open questions). 

Students that did not attend the course and did not participate to group works will answer two more open questions in the final written exam. The compulsory material will be provided on the Moodle page.
