Obiettivi formativi
One of the main objectives of the EPOG+ Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree is to provide a “systemic/holistic” approach of economic policies to each student.
This means offering each student a specific field of study related to the chosen Major together with courses, seminars and activities related to the other Majors.
Within this perspective, the programme organises a series of “joint seminars” (involving the whole cohort). They provide a common culture among the students and a both theoretical and applied perspective on various economic theories and policies.
It's done through seminars involving a large set of prominent academic and non-academic experts in the field and offering an interdisciplinary approach (including economics, law and political sciences, geography, history, sociology…).- Oggetto:

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Besides reading the papers for the seminars in advance for better preparation, there are other performance requirements:
1) Studentis will get a grade for their role as discussant and chair in those JOINT SEMINARS for which they were chosen to provide the commentary at the
end of the speaker’s presentation. Teachers assigned to each seminar as observers will grade students on the basis of
a) the richness and originality of its content
b) the critical dimension in reference to the arguments of the main speaker
c) the links to the existing literature on the topic at hand
d) the delivery of the presentation
e) whether studends have properly chaired, kept time, and kept to the assigned time.2) Points for participation in those JOINT SEMINARS where students are not discussants. Studends' attendance ismandatoryy for each session. We want to encourage your active participation in posing questions!
3) At the end of the semester (mid February) students are expected to hand in a 3-5 pages (max) paper (typed single-spaced, Times New Roman, 12pt) in which they
relate the seminars to your master’s thesis.A major objective of the JOINT SEMINARS is to encourage crossfertilization between the three majors of EPOG, both in terms of cooperation among students from different majors
and examining the interactions between different policies cutting across majors. More specifically, we want students to elaborate in their papers how specific seminars helped them
clarify aspects of their thesis as well as position their dissertation topic in the broader policy context of the seminars in all their diversity.
This is work students will have to do continuously, as it requires reading the papers in advance, come to the seminars, take notes, and conclude withwritten reflections after the event. The grade for the role as discussant, for participation and for the paper at the end will be averaged out, with each carrying equal (50 percent) weight.
