- accedere alla dimensione storica per affinare la capacità di analisi e di comprensione dei fenomeni politici;
- padronanza degli strumenti necessari a comprendere criticamente le fonti e a dominare la ricchezza del dibattito storiografico;

In accordance with the educational project of the degree course, the teaching objectives are as follows:
- comprehending the historical dimension in order to refine the ability to analyse and understanding political phenomena;
- mastering the tools necessary to critically understand historical sources and the complexity of the historiographic debate;

Lo studente dovrà raggiungere una buona comprensione dei problemi storici trattati a lezione, nei libri suggeriti. In coerenza col progetto formativo del corso di laurea, lo studente dovrà mostrare di avere acquisito capacità di uso degli strumenti necessari a:
- discutere criticamente sia oralmente sia con la scrittura i testi storici;
- mostrare capacità di addentrarsi nei dibattiti storiografici affrontati;
- analizzare i processi politici di lungo periodo

Lessons and lectures last for a total of 72 hours (12 CFU)
Students are required to have a good understanding of the historical events taught in the lectures and in the suggested books.
In accordance with the teaching outline of the course, students have to show they have the right tools to:
- critically discuss historical texts with appropriate lexicon, both in oral discussions and written assignments;
- analyse in depth the historiographic debates;
- examine political changes in the long term.

Modalità di insegnamento
L'insegnamento, oltre a lezioni frontali del docente, prevede fasi di interrelazioni con gli studenti tramite lettura ed esposizione dei testi indicati dal docente.
L'insegnamento ha come obiettivi il perfezionamento della capacità di comprensione critica degli studenti, attraverso l'analisi storica, e delle abilità di comunicazione orale e scritta.
In addition to lectures held by the professor, the teaching also includes moments of engagement with the students through reading and presentations of the texts suggested by the teacher.
The teaching is designed to perfect students' critical understanding ability trough historical analysis, as well as their oral and written communication skills.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
L'esame si compone di due parti:
Per chi frequenta è così suddiviso:
La prima parte verte sul manuale e sulla storia generale del XX secolo La prova avverrà attraverso un esonero a domande aperte, per superare il quale occorrerà conseguire almeno 18/30.Il superamento dell'esonero consente di sostenere la parte monografica.
La seconda parte prevede una relazione scritta sul testo indicato della sezione monografica del corso. Dovrà essere concordata col docente e dovrà essere sottoposta al docente almeno 15 giorni prima dell'orale e da discutere all'appello orale. Il testo non deve essere inferiore ai 19.000 caratteri e superiore ai 20.000, spazi inclusi. Se a una verifica la relazione risultasse copiata, si perde la possibilità di sostenere l'esame in questa modalità e si dovrà affrontare come non frequentante.
Per chi non può frequentare
La prima parte avviene in modalità di domande a risposta multipla su moodle. Per superare la prova occorrerà ottenere la sufficienza e cioè la votazione di 18/30. Il voto ottenuto sarà parte integrante della valutazione finale.
La seconda parte consiste nel sostenere la prova orale sul volume della parte monografica.
Si intendono frequentanti coloro che seguono le lezioni. A determinare la qualifica di FREQUENTANTE O NON FREQUENTANTE è la scelta della modalità di svolgimento della prima prova.
The exam is composed of two parts:
For attending students, it is structured as follows:
The first part focuses on the textbook and the general history of the 20th century. The assessment will take place through a written test with open-ended questions. To pass, students must obtain a score of at least 18/30. Passing this first part grants access to the second, monographic part.
The second part consists of a written report on the text indicated in the monographic section of the course. The topic must be agreed upon with the instructor and submitted at least 15 days before the oral exam. It will be discussed during the oral examination.
The paper must be no shorter than 19,000 characters and no longer than 20,000, including spaces.
If the report is found to be plagiarized, the student will lose the possibility of completing the exam as an attending student and will be required to take the exam under the non-attending student format.
For non-attending students:
The first part will take place through a multiple-choice test on Moodle. A passing score of 18/30 is required. The result will be an integral part of the final grade.
The second part consists of an oral exam on the volume assigned in the monographic section.
Students are considered attending if they follow the course lectures.
The choice of format for the first part of the exam determines whether a student is considered attending or non-attending.
